Class JH

Welcome from Mr Huntley and the Year 3 and Year 4 children of Class JH.

You can find out what we have planned in the weeks ahead in our Newsletter. On this page we will be adding pictures and information on work we have done.

Dante Ferrara

We invited a medieval musician, called Dante Ferrara, to our school, to teach us about entertainment in Tudor times.

He brought a selection of Tudor instruments demonstrating how they were made and how they were played.

Most of the class seemed to prefer the hurdy gurdy. This instrument had a continual drone like a set of bagpipes that was caused by turning a handle continuously with one hand. A melody was created by pressing keys with the other hand.

Mr Huntley’s favourite was a wind instrument with a really silly name called a crumhorn!

He then chose some of us to learn a dance that was popular in Tudor times. The dance was lively and quite intricate and we had to imitate trotting horses at one point in the dance.

The day really helped us to understand more about life in Tudor times.
