Eco Warriors

EcO warriors aim is to educate and empower young people to make positive changes within school, to become change makers for an environmentally sustainable world. Each class has an ECO warrior and they have the responsibility of helping to look after the school environment. This may include; litter-picking around the school and encouraging their class to recycle. They also promote campaigns across the school, such as switching off interactive whiteboards and lights. We strive to teach all our children the importance of preserving both their local and global environment. The Eco-Warriors are children who have a love for the environment and have volunteered to help the staff and children at Laceby Stanford Primary Academy become more environmentally friendly. They play an active role helping the school become more eco-friendly and they come up with new ideas on how to promote sustainability at home as well as at school.

Pupil Voice Meeting

Our latest Pupil Voice meeting focused on taking care of our environment, both within our school grounds and across the wider community!
The team brainstormed key initiatives to help keep our school green and clean:

• Setting up dedicated litter picking and watering groups.
• Organising teams to grow vegetables in the polytunnel, check on our apple trees, and monitor classroom compost bins.
• Building bug hotels during Forest School sessions.
• Appointing Eco Warriors in every classroom to lead the way.

Looking beyond our school gates, the pupils also agreed to write a letter to the local council asking for a new bin to be installed at Butt Lane Park to keep our local community tidy.

Each class has chosen a dedicated Eco Warrior to represent their class in pupil voice and lead the charge in making our school a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable place.

Our Eco Warriors carry an important responsibility: they attend regular meetings to share ideas from their classmates, spot ways we can improve, and take action on key environmental issues across the school. From reducing waste and saving energy to looking after our outdoor spaces, they are here to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and that our school community works together to care for our planet.
