Our Foundation children had a fantastic time on their pumpkin picking adventure today! π
With wheelbarrows and big smiles, they explored the pumpkin patch, carefully choosing the perfect pumpkin to take back to school. The children had so much fun weighing their pumpkins, checking the sizes, and even using real money to pay for them!β¨
Back in class, everyone got creative and began designing how theyβd like to decorate their pumpkins over the next few days. We canβt wait to see their wonderful creations! π¨ποΈπ
This week our Foundation children joined together with Years 4, 5 and 6 to celebrate Harvest with songs, poems and prayers. It was such a special occasion, bringing our school community together to share the true meaning of Harvest. πΎ
Our Foundation children performed two Harvest songs they have been learning singing confidently, with big voices and fantastic actions. They were brilliant and made us all very proud!
They also loved listening to the older children share their Harvest songs, poems and prayers. Some of the Foundation children said:
β¨ βI liked the poem as it told us all about harvest.β
β¨ βMy favourite was the poem as the big children said it nice and loud.β
Within our topic Marvellous Me, the reception children have been exploring where we live and comparing it to different places around the world. Our focus story has been Anna Hibiscus, who lives in Africa, and this has led us to explore many things about Africa. We have been learning about how life in Africa can be very different from the houses and artwork to the music. The children were especially fascinated by the sounds of African music, so we took a trip to our teepee to listen to a range of songs and discover different traditional instruments. πͺπΆ
The children loved hearing the unique sounds the instruments made and even had a go at creating their own African-inspired music! With singing, dancing, and lots of smiling, our teepee was filled with rhythm and joy.
Itβs been fantastic to see their curiosity and excitement as we celebrate and learn about cultures from around the world. π
This week, we went on a nature leaf hunt, gathering lots of colourful leaves that are turning shades of red, yellow and brown. The children were so excited to spot the changing colours all around us!
Back in class, they used their wonderful collection of leaves to create beautiful leaf frames around their autumn pumpkin pictures. Donβt they look amazing! ππ
Today, Buttercup Class proudly wore their jeans to school in support of Jeans for Genes Day.
Buttercup Class had the most wonderful time on our nature walk today! The children have been learning about season and how on Monday it is a new season, Autumn! The went hunting for signs that itβs nearly Autumn. The children enjoyed collecting colourful leaves, sticks, and acorns and loved learning all about our beautiful acorn trees. We gathered acorns that had dropped to the ground to bring back for lots of fun activities in class, from our mud kitchen play to maths counting and much more!
It was also our very first walk into our schoolβs nature area, and the children were so excited to listen carefully to the birds singing all around us.
The children had such a lovely time exploring and learning outdoors.β¨
This week we have been focusing on developing both gross and fine motor skills, which are the building blocks for writing βοΈ and everyday activities.
Outdoors, the children have been designing and tackling obstacle courses with crates and large blocks. They loved climbing, balancing, and jumping, as well as exploring big movements, mark making with chalk and water , and other fun activities. These hands-on activities are perfect for boosting strength, balance, and coordination.
Indoors, we focused on our fine motor skills. The children practiced precise movements with paint, sand, glitter, and pencils. All great ways to improve hand control. Theyβve also been practicing there cutting skillsβοΈ and using tweezers to pick up small objects, which really helps tiny hand muscles grow stronger.
We are so proud of how much progress each child is making π. Itβs wonderful to see them having so much fun while building the skills that are so important for their development. Keep up the great work, Buttercup Class π
Today we spent the whole day celebrating ourselves β our favourite things, our special interests, and everything that makes us unique and amazing! π«
The children had so much fun sharing their favourite toys, books and hobbies with their friends. Our day was packed full of exciting activities all themed around Marvellous ME from creative crafts to fine motor fun and so much more. π¨β¨
We even ended the day in our fantastic new teepee with a calming yoga session, where we practised affirmations like βI am braveβ and βI am loved.β ππ§
A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents for helping the children gather their favourite things β your support made the day extra special. The children had the most amazing time celebrating everything that makes them who they are. ππ
We are so excited to welcome all of our newest little learners into the Laceby Stanford Primary Academy family. π From the moment they walked through the doors, they have shown such confidence, curiosity, and big smiles.
It has been amazing to see how beautifully theyβve settled in and are already getting the hang of classroom routines, exploring their new learning spaces, and making lots of new friends along the way. β¨
We are so proud of each and every one of them, and we canβt wait to watch them grow, learn, and shine throughout their journey at Laceby Stanford! ππ
